NEW YORK — The mothers of three Americans jailed in Iran returned to the United States on Saturday, pained to leave their children behind yet heartened to find they’re being treated well and are “in reasonable health.” At a brief news conference at John F. Kennedy International Airport shortly after they returned to New York, Cindy Hickey thanked the Iranians for allowing the women to see the three and said they were disappointed they could not return with their children.

The New York Times Book Review said that Howard Zinn’s bestseller, A People’s History of the United States should be “required reading for a new generation of students.” Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Arizona’s new law dispensing with ethnic studies programs would permit a teacher in that state to even assign Zinn’s book. You may recall, this past April Arizona foolishly passed a law requiring police officers to inquire about an individual’s immigration status.

Name the movie with the following plot… In a dystopian future, organ transplants have become a commodity and the giant corporation that sells them sends out repo men to take back hearts, kidneys and other innards from customers who aren’t paying their bills. Actually, that summary describes two completely unrelated film projects with two completely different creative teams from two different movie studios. Striking similarity in both the premise and in aspects of the marketing campaigns for the two films has caused confusion, bad feelings and an uproar on the Internet.

Warning: This post contains spoilers. Welcome to Sucker Punch, the only blog post that ranks the gaudiest moments on this week’s episode of True Blood. Um… remember last week , when I worried the show was slowing down? Well, “Heard-Hearted Hannah” has settled my hash. There are so many sucker-punchy scenes in this installment that I could get carpal tunnel syndrome writing about them all. But before we begin… have you noticed that on the bottom right side of the screen, there’s an automatically generated ad leading you to the books I supposedly wrote?
